About the Summit
Two global conferences.
One agenda
The 17th International Conference of Information Commissioners (ICIC 2026) and the UNESCO Global Conference marking the International Day for Universal Access to Information (IDUAI 2026) will be held together in Freetown, Sierra Leone, from 28 to 30 September 2026. The two-in-one landmark event is jointly hosted by the Government of Sierra Leone, its Right to Access Information Commission (RAIC), and UNESCO — the first time the conference has convened in West Africa
Upholding Information Integrity in the Digital Age: the role of access to information in addressing information disorder.
Delegates will examine how timely, reliable official information can strengthen the information environment and counter information disorder. Over three days, information commissioners, regulators, civil society, journalists and researchers meet in plenary and parallel sessions, alongside the African Network of Information Commissioners track and the closed ICIC business meeting. The conference concludes with the adoption of the Freetown Declaration, setting the network's collective position on information integrity for the years ahead.
